
Tessa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisville. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor providing individual therapy services in-person and via telehealth in the state of Kentucky.
Tessa has over eight years of experience supporting individuals with a range of mental health concerns across various outpatient, in-home, university, and community settings. While not an exhaustive list, she has worked with clients experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, adjustment, acute stress, trauma, and mood disorders. Her clinical interests include religious trauma (adverse religious experiences), the unique challenges faced by military-connected clients, and navigating transitional seasons of life. She also welcomes all individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.
Her approach is collaborative, supportive, and client-centered with a primary focus on creating a safe therapeutic space while strengthening rapport. Tessa considers building strong therapeutic relationships with clients to be her greatest occupational privilege.
Tessa is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and incorporates this modality into her work to address a wide range of symptoms and diagnoses. She also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based techniques.
